New York, NY – July 20, 2010– The Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA) is pleased to announce Future Ground Forces, scheduled for September 20 - 22, 2010 in Washington, DC.

On April 28, 2010 the US Army released its 2010 modernization strategy outlining how it will accomplish its goal of fielding a sustainable mix of units with the necessary troops, training, and equipment to contend with a range of conflicts. This is the first strategy to explicitly address changes the service needs to make in the way it equips troops and units as it adapts to a new force generation model.

Attendees of IGDA’s Future Ground Forces will hear from Brigadier General Edward P. Donnelly, Incoming Director, Force Development, Army G-8. His presentation,Army Force Development: Army Modernization and Equipment Allocation, will highlight improving the equipping the posture of army, appropriate fielding of modern equipment, and the continued pursuit of modernization.

In addition, the strategy also incorporates recent Defense Department guidance on the Future Combat Systems program that has the Army examining dismounted solider technology. To address this part of the strategy, Future Ground Forces will feature a Lightening the Load & Dismounted Soldier Technology Focus Day. This in-depth and interactive series of workshops will examine current research and development in dismounted soldier technology with a focus on lightening the load. These practical application sessions will deliver high impact training led by recognized experts such as Professor Karim Abdel-Malek, Director, Virtual Soldier Research Program, University of Iowa, Dr. Carole Teolis, CTO, TRX Systems, Inc., and Randy L. Milbert, President, Primordial.

IDGA’s Future Ground Forces will provide attendees a time critical forum where key military decision makers and industry partnerswill come together to work their solution into the overall strategy.
