Don't miss: January 26: Alternative Power Focus Day

With new electronic breakthroughs emerging almost daily, power requirements are skyrocketing. Standard-issue power sources and fuels are currently the backbone of everything from night vision devices, weapon sights, and GPS units through to antitank missile launchers, humvees, and armored personnel carriers. Already, the average warfighter consumes 88 AA batteries over the course of a five-day mission, and the military uses approximately 2.4 million gallons of fuel every day in Iraq and Afghanistan. New technological breakthroughs to power devices and machinery are at the forefront in the long war, with the key thrusts being to reduce weight, increase efficiency, and outlast mission durations – all at the lowest cost possible.

IDGA’s 6th Annual Tactical Power Sources Summit will provide insight into the power sources fueling the technology of the future This timely event will examine the immediate need to utilize new and emerging technologies to overcome current fuel consumption rates and address the need for improved large and small scale power. Next generation technologies, systems, and materials will be assessed to identify the challenges in ensuring US and Coalition Warfighters have superior power, when they need it the most.

Primary areas of focus will include:

  • Lithium-Ion Power Sources
  • Waste-to-Energy Solutions
  • Solar/Photovoltaic Power
  • Fuel Cell Technology
  • Hydrogen Power and Applications
