New York, NY– March 3, 2011 – Defining priorities, building partnerships, and modernizing capabilities have recently been at the forefront of the Maritime Community’s agenda. The US Coast Guard’s leadership visionfor the 21st Century and the Department of Homeland Security’s release of the Implementation Plan for the Small Vessel Security Strategy are just two focal points currently being addressed to enhance the National Capacity for Maritime Homeland Security.
In keeping with theses current matters of the Maritime Community, IDGA’s 9th Annual Maritime Homeland Security Summit will bring together departmental policy makers, uniformed service leaders, law enforcement, and industry partners to exchange and share best practices and opportunities to improve the security of our Nation's maritime borders.
IDGA is especially honored to announce the summit’s distinguished Keynote speaker faculty. ADM John Harvey, USN, Commander, United States Fleet Forces Command will deliver the highly anticipated briefing on the Navy’s Fleet Forces Command support for the safety and security of the maritime domain. RDML William “Dean” Lee, USCG, Commander, Coast Guard District 5 is going to lay out District 5 Command’s vision and priorities for 2011. Furthermore, building critical domestic and international partnerships for Maritime Security will be discussed by RADM Paul Zukunft, USCG, Assistant Commandant for Marine Safety, Security and Stewardship.
Additionally, the summit has just added a new track focused specifically on Maritime Border Protection. Recently announced Keynote speakers includeKumar Kibble, Deputy Director of ICE, andMaj Gen Michael Kostelnik, USAF (Ret) Assistant Commissioner, Office of Air and Marine, CBP.
