Captain John Davis examines the U.S. Coast Guard's Synchronized Layered Defense Strategy which aims to identify, address and act on threats as far from the border as possible. Through a ''Trident of Forces" the USCG mitigates various threats, including drug trafficking and illegal immigration, offshore infrastructure, global warming, as well as threats to the economy (protecting our exclusive ecomomic zones).
