A Trident of Forces Used to Mitigate Threats at U.S Ports

"90% of U.S imports and exports travel through the Maritime Transportation System...of that about 22,000 foreign vessels make port calls in the U.S every year". Captain John Davis examines the U.S. Coast Guard's Synchronized Layered Defense Strategy which aims to identify, address and act on threats as far from the border as possible. Through a ''Trident of Forces" the USCG mitigates various threats, including drug trafficking and illegal immigration, offshore infrastructure, global warming, as well as threats to the economy (protecting our exclusive ecomomic zones).
