Force Protection (FP) is defined as the preventive measures taken to mitigate hostile actions against Department of Defense personnel (including, but not limited to, family members and chaplains), resources, facilities, and critical information. Force protection does not include actions to defeat the enemy, accidents, weather, or disease.
